Drypoint Etching Workshop

Experimenting with Drypoint Etching

Half day print workshop, Thursday 27 August, 10-1 and/or 2-5
22 Manhattan Drive, CB4 1JL

Clio Lloyd-Jacob will be running a half day introductory
drypoint etching workshop from my studio for young
people, 12-16 yrs.

12 year old’s etching of a winter tree

Students will have a chance to learn how etchings are
made, to plan and make their own plate, learn to ink it
up in various ways, and make a number of prints from
their plates. They will be working with acetate plates
and water based ink, so there will be no toxic fumes or
acids involved in this process. Students will be able to
take home their work at the end of the session.

Student’s double-printed etching

The studio space is not very large, so in order to allow for social distancing there will
be a maximum of three students at each session. If there is enough interest, there will
be both a morning session and an afternoon session. Each session will be £25. There
will be a break for refreshments half way through each session, but students will need
to bring their own snack and drink.
Windows and doors will remain open, and students can work mainly outside if they
prefer. Students will need to wear masks when using the printing press and moving
around the studio, but can work unmasked while seated, designing and making their
plates.
