My artwork explores the idea of home, boundaries, and the shifting nature of personal space. I create drawings of London’s front garden walls using clay slip and handmade miniature clay bricks as stamps. This process stems from my earlier practice in Pakistan, where I built small-scale boundary walls with terracotta bricks, inspired by local architecture filled with wall chalkings, posters, and advertisements.
Now, in London, my brick-stamped drawings are stripped of physical bricks and collaged layers, yet they carry the weight of longing and adaptation. Migration has reshaped my perception of space—houses here are smaller, and so are my dreams. Once, I aspired to a grand home, luxury, and comfort; now, I feel a sense of diminishment. These stamped walls reflect my evolving relationship with home and belonging, capturing the emotional and architectural contrasts between my past and present. Noor Ali Chagani, 2025
